At the October 29, 2019 Borough Council meeting, Anthony pointed out to the Council that they have marketed the referendum question as if a vote YES would stop the development of the five lots at Walker's Pond. But the hastily drafted language of the referendum question does not directly say as much (as we wrote about in our August 18 blog). In order to get the Council on record committing NOT to go against the will of the voters on the referendum question, Anthony asked the entire Council directly: will each Council member commit to not sell the five lots to a developer if the public votes YES on the public referendum? The Council members would not collectively agree to follow the will of the voters on the referendum. This suggests that the Council may ignore the will of the residents of North Caldwell. Watch Anthony & Ted's recap of the meeting below or, if you want to watch the entire exchange with the Council, we recorded it for you so you can watch it here!
